1:1 Teaching Assistant

Aim:

We are seeking to appoint a 1:1  Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. The right candidate will have a positive, calm and encouraging attitude, be patient and kind and be able to use their initiative. 

Job Purpose:

The right candidate will work 1:1 supporting a child in Year 7 to support her learning and emotional needs during the school day.  

We are looking for someone with the following essential qualities:

  • An ability to take on board advice and strategies specific to a pupil’s needs.
  • An ability to break learning down where required.
  • An ability to support pupil’s personal organisation and independence.
  • Is flexible, proactive and hands-on.
  • Has vision, energy and enthusiasm for this challenge and has excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of building nurturing relationships.
  • An ability to work within a team.
  • GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent, in English and Maths.

The following qualities are desirable, but not essential:

  • Experience delivering 1-1 and/or small group sessions

Further responsibilities:

  • To attend INSET and any other meetings as required.
  • To follow the policies, procedures and guidelines of St Wilfrid’s School.
  • Any other duties which may be required from time to time.
  • To work within and encourage the school's equal Opportunity Policy and contribute to diversity policies and programmes in relation to discriminatory behaviour.
  • To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with the school's Health and Safety guidance and legislation.
  • Monitor any problems and difficulties reporting these to teaching staff.
