Science

Welcome to St Wilfrid's School! We believe that learning about science is an essential part of a child's education. At St Wilfrid's, we strive to provide our students with a rich and engaging science curriculum that not only helps them understand the world around us, but helps them to develop an investigative mind.

Science is at the core of the curriculum and students study all three science disciplines (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) from Year 7 through to Year 11. Pupils complete a balanced science curriculum leading to GCSE combined science or separate GCSE in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Our pupils grow up in a world where an understanding of science is increasingly important in daily life. We aim to give them a factual framework, appreciation of scientific method and the ability to ask questions and assess evidence which will help them to think and act confidently around the world. The development of scientific knowledge and understanding is dependent upon experimental results and observations. Practical work is an essential part of our education. Students learn to develop theories, plan and carry out experiments to test them and analyse their results as well as that of others.
