Mental Health & Well-Being

Dear Parents,

My name is Kate and I am delighted to be joining the wellbeing team at St Wilfrids. I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor specialising in the support of young people, and a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP).

I have a passion for young people’s mental health and have worked with young people for over 12 years. For a young person to feel safe and understood can be extremely powerful and empowering, especially when navigating our newly digitised fast-paced world. I strongly believe that talking therapies can help young people gain confidence and agency over who they are, and how they regulate and cope with what life has in store for them.

My experience as a therapist and counsellor includes an ongoing position at The Maynard School, Exeter, and roles with local charities (Young Devon and DRCSAS). For more information my website can be found at https://www.katespelmancounselling.co.uk/

On Fridays, I am available for in-school sessions. I also have availability outside of school in my office or online. I can offer a confidential and non-judgmental space where young people can explore their feelings, anxieties and identity in a safe and supported way.

If this is something you would be interested in you can also contact me on kspelman@stwilfrids.devon.sch.uk for a more detailed discussion surrounding your child’s individual needs and context.

I look forward to being part of the wellbeing team at St Wilfrids.

Best wishes,

Kate Spelman
