Art
The Art department at St Wilfrids aims to ensure that all pupils are given opportunities to learn the essential skills and disciplines our subject has to offer. Including working in many forms of 2D and 3D media, in order to meet the expectations set out in the national curriculum. St Wilfrids students will gain a good understanding of traditional and contemporary artists, from varied social and cultural backgrounds.
Our aim is for all pupils to feel included and be successful in their artistic endeavours. This in turn, creates a sense of purpose towards the production of beautiful work.
Art allows pupils to learn skills for the wider world. Projects are planned to challenge students' perceptions of what art is and its place in society. As part of our curriculum, we also ensure that pupils learn about creative pathways, and can see the connections between the skills they learn in school and how they can be applied in real life contexts.
