Guidance on School shoes

Please refer to the guidance given below when buying school shoes;

Girls’ shoes must be black, plain and well supported. Shoes with any sort of heel are unacceptable. They can be worn with fastened black laces, buckles or velcro.  Boots, trainers or canvas gym pump style shoes are not allowed. Flimsy canvas slipper and ballet style shoes provide no support. They are unsuitable and dangerous for school use.

Boys’ shoes must be black, plain, well supported and low heeled. All stitching and laces must be black and laces tied at all times. Boots and trainer style shoes (even if they are black) are unacceptable, as are canvas gym pump style shoes and “show off” designer labels.

List of school shoes NOT ALLOWED:

  • Converse
  • Vans
  • Lonsdale
  • Adidas
  • Puma
  • Nike
  • Timberland
  • Rockport
  • UGG boots

We understand that on occasion it may be necessary for a pupil to come to school in something other than their ordinary school shoes, for example if their shoes have broken. Pupils will be given reasonable time to purchase the correct footwear.

We expect all pupils to wear their uniform properly, in order to create a positive reputation for themselves and for St Wilfrid’s.

  • Hoodies and non-uniform jackets may not be worn in school at any time.
  • Hair should be kept neat and tidy and of one reasonable length, style and must be of one natural colour. (Shaved heads, stencilled, or very short hair are not acceptable.)
  • Nail varnish should not be worn in school and make up should be subtle.
  • No jewellery should be worn apart from a one ring, a bracelet and not more than one plain gold or silver stud in each earlobe, no other piercings are permitted.
  • No garment should be visible underneath the school shirt or blouse.
  • Bring your belongings in a bag which is large enough to hold an A4-type folder – smaller bags and handbags are not permitted.

KIT POLICY

  • You must NOT wear jewellery or watches during PE lessons. Your nails must be kept short so as not to injure other people during PE lessons.
  • Money, ear studs, watches etc. may be handed in to staff to look after during PE lessons
  • If you have forgotten to bring any item of your PE kit to the lesson, please inform the PE teacher immediately.

If any pupil is injured or is too ill to fully participate in the lesson parents should write a note to the pupils PE teacher explaining the reason for not participating. However they should still bring and wear correct PE kit to this lesson. Although they may not be able to fully participate practically in the lesson, we require them to be smartly dressed in correct PE kit so they are ready to be involved in a non-practical way such as coaching or refereeing.
