A truly fantastic day at St Wilfrid’s School celebrating VE Day 75.
Activities began this morning with a World War 2 military drill PE lesson. This was followed by the pupils creating their own World War 2 soldier diaries, expressing their delight and excitement on hearing the news that victory in Europe has been secured.
VE Day recipes were then cooked. These included trench stew, eggless chocolate cake, pancakes, cottage pie and cheese dumplings.
The afternoon started with an address from Winston Churchill informing Britain that the war in Europe was over. This was followed by an impeccably observed two minute silence to remember all those that lost their lives fighting for their country.
Medal and bunting making concluded the days events.
An amazing effort from all involved in these times of online learning.
