It was St Wilfrid’s privilege to be invited to be part of the London 2012 Olympic Guard of Honour.
St Wilfrid’s was one of only 250 schools chosen nationwide to attend this once in a lifetime opportunity and demonstrate their support for St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Eight pupils were accompanied by Mr Bovingdon and Miss Bracey, setting off from school at 7.15am. After a long coach journey, we caught the high speed ‘javelin’ train into the Olympic Park.
Once there we were greeted by none other than Tom Daley! Which led to several very happy girls!
We were given a guided tour of the Olympic Park and venues and went to have dinner in the fantastic handball arena.
Later we took our place as part of the Guard of Honour, and lined the athlete’s parade into the stadium.
We were able to see lots of famous sportspeople and get lots of autographs and photos.
We finally arrived back in Exeter at 3.40am.
A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!
