Post 16 Education

Following GCSE there is a wealth of choice for pupils who wish to engage in further education.

Our strong links with Exeter School ( http://www.exeterschool.org.uk/) and Exeter College (http://www.exe-coll.ac.uk) ensures that those who transfer do so confident in the knowledge that they are very well prepared, both academically and socially, to cope with the challenges of A level or other study at either educational institution.

During year 11 we encourage the pupils to take a more personal control of their study time and to develop a mature and sensible outlook, which enables them to cope with the transition to a more student led environment. Former students do, however, return for advice and guidance and we are exploring the idea of a Sixth Form Enhancement Programme as a support tool.

Career advice is an integral part of the curriculum and all year 10 pupils undergo a week’s work experience, while the ‘Preparation for Working Life’ examination is part of the Year 11 course.
