ST WILFRID’S SCHOOL MATCH DAY PACKAGE AT EXETER CITY FC
A bright and early start for everyone with a 10.00am meet at St James School astro turf. The pupils were greeted by Exeter City coach Danny Harris who put the boys through two hours of fantastic football training. This included skill development, penalty shootouts and several small games.
Onwards to St James Park, home of Exeter City, where pizza was provided for lunch and sweets were readily available throughout the day. The competition winners from the mornings training were announced and the pupils then had the chance to go autograph hunting. Oliver Gorman managed to secure the most!
At 2.00pm the players came out for their warm-ups and the boys were entertained by Grecian the Lion, Exeter City’s mascot, with a serious of cheering and Mexican waves.
The excitement grew and finally the game kicked off at 3.00pm. A poor first half from Exeter City resulted in Hartlepool United taking a two goal lead. But Exeter City rallied in the second half and scored a goal of their own. Ultimately losing 2-1. L
An excellent day was had by all, both pupils and parents alike. I hope this is the first of many of these events to be held between Exeter City and St Wilfrid’s School.
Thank you all for your continued support of sport at St Wilfrid’s.
