Saturday 1st December turned out to be a lovely sunny Winter’s day. All year groups from the youngest juniors to year 11 ran a wide variety of stalls which included many Christmas themed stalls, a Willy Wonka Chocolate room, Scalextric Challenge and a various of hot and cold refreshments.
As well as pupils running their stalls, we had a well stocked, quality jumble sale and second hand uniform stall run by the Friends of St. Wilfrid’s.
Mr Simms sweetshop ran a mini sweetshop in the Chocolate room, and it was good to make a connection with a neighbouring local business. A special visitor was the vibrant Max Jones (a former pupil at St. Wilfrid’s School) who was our DJ for the day and did a truly excellent job! We were also joined by professional photographer Paul Kallu from PK Photography who took brilliant group photographs of families and groups of friends.
As lunchtime approached, we enjoyed delicious sausage rolls and filled jacket potatoes, followed by a desserts from the cake stalls, chocolate fountain and hot mince pies.
The raffle was a huge success and many of the wonderful prizes were sourced by parents from the Friends of St. Wilfrid’s. Thank you also to Mr Bovingdon for the signed rugby shirts from local clubs and everyone who bought and sold tickets.
Money is still coming in, so the final total has not been calculated yet, but early indications show a substantial sum!
Thank you to everyone who contritbuted to this special day!
The St. Wilfrid’s School Christmas Fayre was a great success and, we hope, the first of many more to come! Mrs Mackey.
