Year 7 pupils at St. Wilfrid’s School made some soda bread in their H.E. lesson.
Mrs Mackey was given the recipe from Shaun Ryder of Ryder’s Bakery of Dawlish to try out at school. The recipe used buttermilk and bicarbonate of soda as the raising agents which meant the bread could be made and baked within half an hour. To add interest to the bread they added sunflower and poppy seeds. The flavour of the bread got mixed reactions as it is stronger than traditional bread, but everyone had fun making it!
