Year 10 H.E. Practical Exam – Lemon Meringue Pie

For the November exams, year 10 H.E.  pupils made lemon meringue pie.  Lemon meringue pie shows three distinct  skills; shortcrust pastry making by the rubbing in method, sauce making using  fresh lemons and eggs, and of course the meringue topping which pupils piped on  with a star nozzle.  The results were excellent showing good control of  equipment and several skills which pupils need to learn in  preparation for their GCSE controlled assessment.  Mrs Mackey was very  pleased with the results saying, “these pies are produced and finished to a high  standard.  The pupils worked very hard to achieve these  results!”
