Christmas Cakes 2011

Some pupils from years 7 & 8 designed, baked, marzipanned, iced and decorated Christmas cakes in their Home Economics lessons with Mrs Mackey.

Pupils learnt the skills needed to make a rich fruit cake and rolling skills to successfully marzipan, and fondant ice the cakes.  The decorations on the cakes were moulded and shaped by the pupils from coloured fondant icing, finally pupils used royal icing to pipe on their cakes.

Mrs Mackey was delighted with the results, and very pleased with how carefully everyone had worked.  Well done!
